Johnathon Smith is a New York City based Architectural Designer that enjoys focusing on balancing the hand and computer mouse in the digital age. Developing his sketching, drafting and freehand drawing skills throughout his practice has been a critical component to his understanding of architecture. Analog drawing allows for mistakes, the pencil or pen can slip, leading to a new discovery of a given context. His drawings typically begin by focusing on literal landscapes, they are direct interpretations of existing context that slowly gain layers of drawn information and analysis that grow them into palimpsestuous documents. These drawings focus  on the unseen relationships between spaces; these can be time, movement, shadow, shape, circulation, etc.
