KATE EVANS
NEW YORK
Kate Evans, a New York City-born and based artist, deconstructs themes of body image and consumerism using a blend of humor and everyday materials such as copper, paper, ink, ceramic, glass, nipple pasties, ashes, hair, golf balls, bath mats, and straight jackets. Her work explores the self-importance that saturates society—whether through social media, political corruption, or daily chaos. By highlighting these themes, she pokes fun at our perceptions of ourselves, revealing the gaps between reality and self-image.
Evans’ pieces embrace the messiness of life, expressing the absurdity in the struggle to find meaning and connection. Rather than resolving contradictions, her art celebrates them.
A recipient of the W.L. Thompson Award for Outstanding Achievement in Advertising Copywriting, Evans has also been recognized by Columbia University Scholastic Press for her piece "Homage to the Plastic Bag."
Evans completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon and is currently an MFA candidate in printmaking at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She continues to provoke thought and laughter, inviting viewers to navigate the chaos of contemporary life with her.
