DACE SŪNA
LATVIA
Dace Sūna is a Latvian designer exploring the interplay between space and light. Her work is deeply rooted in spatial design, guided by a profound connection to nature and a fascination with the elemental forces of gas, fire, water, earth, and plasma.
She earned her MA in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2023, where her graduation project Cosmic Dancer received the Latvian Design Award in the Spatial Design category. Dace also holds a BFA in Interior Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Currently based in Latvia, she shares her expertise as a lecturer in Interior Design at the Latvian Academy of Arts.
Over the years, Dace has explored a diverse range of materials and techniques. While living in Los Angeles, she mastered the art of neon-making and experimented with plaster, wood, and clay. Later, in the Netherlands, her conceptual SPACE & LIGHT installations combined metal and glass, embodying her distinctive artistic vision. Now, back in Latvia, she focuses primarily on glass—her chosen medium for capturing and carrying light.
For Dace, design is a continuous journey that bridges nature and science, creating timeless, light-filled spaces that honor the quiet magic of the universe.
