Ayşegül Açıkgöz is an architect based in İstanbul, working with ceramics and paper to create one-of-a-kind functional objects. Using her brand name FENA Studio, she makes furniture, lighting and smaller scale objects either by using the traditional methods of working with clay, or by transforming paper waste into paper mache. Her interest in creating pieces from recyclable products comes from pushing the limits of paper - the ordinary use of the material in our everyday life. Her collections highlight the importance of handcrafting and the beauty of imperfections that is palpable with each piece she brings to life.
