GRID
May 16 - July 20
‘GRID’ is a bold exploration of the architecture of control, and the creative power in breaking it. This new show features work by a dynamic group of designers and artists, whose practices span across disciplines, spaces, objects, form and concept. The grid - a timeless design principle and visual metaphor - serves as a starting point as well as a boundary to be questioned, bent and broken. Whether through literal interpretations of the physical materials or conceptual subversions, each work presented within the curation engages the tension between order and chaos, constraint and freedom, limitation and possibility. The grid is a metaphor for how we define identity, memory, form and function, with each piece that we create and put out into this World. Across materials and disciplines, the grid is pulled apart, dismantled and reassembled - serving as a lens for reimagining the systems we live within and the possibilities that emerge when we design our way out of them.
