Maite Santos Alcocer is an NYC - based designer and maker. Born in Madrid and raised in the cities of Madrid, Boston, San Francisco and Miami she observed how the built environment shapes every aspect of human experience, often without us realizing it. With an interest in craft and fabrication, Maite dives into the science of materiality, creating based on the relationship between materials and their properties. Her work encompasses a wide range of mediums, with a particular focus on wood, metal, and soft goods. Themes of movement, interaction, and duality take part of Maite’s work, making us question and redefine our daily habits through objects. Her philosophy revolves around the notion of a dialogue between the designer and the materials/concepts at hand, with the final product serving as a tangible manifestation of this ongoing conversation.
